skin &
bones
This started with me trying to find something visually interesting in Sacramento.
I ended up in their “Old Town” because 1) Regular field trips to Olivera Street gave me an appreciation of these weird spaces that cities grow to attract visitors and, 2) Where else would you go in Sacramento?
In the case of the bridge, I framed my shots as much as possible to remove any context from them beyond the structures of the bridge itself, the bones of the thing. For the train stuff I just tried to get close and catch detail.
In both cases, I rotated some of the shots to double down on the abstract aspect of their designs. The bridge shots especially have this constructivist quality to them that reminds me of shots from the 30s.
The layout itself is supposed to call to mind a train crossing a bridge and I may have spent too much time thinking about this.
It’s intended for as large a screen as you can manage. Oh, don’t look at me that way. Like you don’t spend too much time on your phone as it is.
