underfoot mandalas

I’ve long been fixated on manhole covers and service panels. There’s something inspiring about the way an object with a completely ordinary and necessary form and function can be expressed in so many different ways.

Some of them highlight the region or the manufacturer, others simply interpret the design requirements in all sorts of creative ways.

I’ve been capturing these things since before phones had cameras although the majority of the shots were shot with whatever phone I had on me at the time. Others were shot with actual cameras. All of these were shot by me.

For this aspect of the project, I figured that since my goal was to get people to notice these things in a new light, I’d show them in a variety of styles. In this regard, Lightroom offers perhaps too many options. After a while, I centered on one each between color, black and white and duo tone.
